50th Cape Cod Oldtimers Long Board Classic At Whitecrest Beach Yesterday.

The 50th Cape Cod Oldtimers Longboard Classic was held yesterday at Whitecrest Beach in Wellfleet. (Click on blog link for other photos.)

“The Cape Cod Oldtimers Longboard Classic was established in 1974 through Jasper’s Surf Shop in Eastham, MA. The surfing contest has been a fundraising event from the very beginning. Originally, all of the proceeds were donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod. Since the passing of Kenney Norton, one of the original organizers, a portion of the proceeds have been used to maintain the Kenney Norton Scholarship Fund.”

The dunes and the beach were packed with people who came out to see these Oldtimers. It was a bit foggy so not the best of viewing conditions, but a lot of fun for all who were there.

The 32nd “Cat Gathering” Was Held Yesterday At Arey’s Pond On Cape Cod.

The just-for-fun Cat Gathering race was held yesterday, starting in Little Pleasant Bay, sailing through the narrows around designated marks and finishing in Big Pleasant Bay. (Click on blog link for other photos.)

There were over 100 sailboats participating in the event. It was so much fun to watch them sail through the narrows at out to Pleasant Bay.

We stopped by on Friday to see the 33′ Catboat that came up from Barnegat Bay in New Jersey to participate in the race. What a gorgeous boat!

The Cat Gathering is a just-for-fun race with all proceeds going toward Friends of Pleasant Bay and non-profit organizations that benefit Pleasant Bay and so much fun for all those involved!
