Part of the Red Maple Swamp Trail at Fort Hill in Eastham on Cape Cod has been closed for years, needing many repairs. Well, the repairs to that part are completed and the whole trail is open again!
Next time you are on Cape Cod, put it on your list of To-Do’s. It is so much fun for the whole family!
This gorgeous Orchard Oriole was on our jelly feeder this week a few times. I had never seen one before. What a treat!
One of my neighbors emailed me last week that they had an Orchard Oriole on their feeder to give me a ‘heads up.” A couple of days later, here he was at our feeder. He looks very similar to a Baltimore Oriole but with a much deeper orangish-red color. They also have a solid black tail, instead of an orange and black tail.
I kept hearing this Bullfrog in the water by Silver Spring Trail, but I couldn’t see where it was until I used my binoculars and saw him amongst the Lily Pads. With his camouflage coloring, he was quite hidden in there.
This Bullfrog is about 4 and 3/4 ” and the female lays up to 20,000 eggs. Yikes! That is a lot of eggs!! It takes 1-3 years for the tadpoles to develop into adults. Interesting…
The Lily Pads on Silver Spring at the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary are just spectacular this year. Phil and I had fun taking different photographs of them.
Here are the 3 that I liked best. What do you think?
