Coast Guard Station In Eastham On Cape Cod Is Always So Beautiful!

Whether it’s summer or winter, cloudy or sunny, Coast Guard Station is always beautiful. Here’s a few facts, if you didn’t know…

One of the original nine stations was constructed at Nauset. It was located about 350 yards southeast of the present building. Shoreline erosion compelled the construction of a new station. The old station remained in service until 1937, when it was replaced by the present structure. The present building was in service as a Coast Guard Station until 1958.

The building is now the Cape Cod National Seashore’s residential environmental education program facility. Known as NEED, it offers educational groups an opportunity to experience the natural and historical wonders of Cape Cod. The building is not open to the general public, but visitors are able to walk around the grounds and enjoy the ocean views.”

There is so much history on Cape Cod!

Surprises Come In All Directions On Cape Cod!

When I saw Provincetown Photography Page’s challenge of “glass” this past week on their Facebook page, I thought it would be fun to participate. Provincetown Photograph Page has a new challenge every week or two and they are so much fun to see. The creativity of the photographers is amazing! I wasn’t sure where I would find a photo to answer the challenge.

Yesterday Phil and I were down at the beach and when we started to drive away there it was in the side mirror… the perfect photo op for me in glass. I thought it was so cool as it portrayed Cape Cod, its beaches and its benches.

The moral of my photo: Don’t forget to look behind you and all around you. You never know what you will see!

Lobster Pot At Coast Guard Beach On Cape Cod: 2 Different Perspectives

As we walked along Coast Guard Beach the other day, we could see a lobster pot had washed ashore near Nauset Spit. (Click on blog link to see other photo.)

I took one photograph in color and Phil took one in black and white. Amazing how different they look!

Your thoughts?

Coast Guard Beach On Cape Cod… Two Years Ago.

It’s hard to believe that this was the path to Coast Guard Beach just two years ago. The drop-off now is just incredible which is why the National Seashore made a new path to the beach down the road a bit.

Pretty dramatic, don’t you think?

Never A Dull Moment On Cape Cod… Even On A Rainy Day!

Yesterday was a rainy morning when we went for a “car picnic” at Boat Meadow Beach. It was raining pretty hard, but still so pretty. (Click on blog link for other photos.)

All of a sudden a car drove up and a lady pulled two cages out of the back of her car. It looked like Wild Care was going to release a bird on the beach. I didn’t get to speak with her as the raindrops were coming down pretty fast.

We watched as she carried the cages to the beach and released one seagull and then another. We watched them saunter around the beach and then both fly off. Wow!

Wild Care Cape Cod is amazing. The work they do to rehabilitate birds and animals is incredible and so wonderful to see their releases back into the wild.

Kudos to Wild Cape Cape Cod! We are all so fortunate to have you so close by!
