I thought I would take ride to Coast Guard Beach and see what the beach looked like after the storm and frigid temperatures last weekend. The new path to the beach looks the same but the dark peat by the old path has come up quite a bit, as you can see in the photograph.
It looked quite a bit different than last week when I was there. It certainly is interesting what Mother Nature unearths.
Two days ago I posted a photograph of Daffodils blooming on the Cape in January and yesterday we woke up to snow. Fort Hill was so pretty, don’t you think? Only in New England… as As Mark Twain said, “If you don’t like New England weather, wait a few minutes.”
I’ve seen many volunteers working very hard at Fort Hill the past couple of weeks. They’ve done a wonderful job cleaning up all of the old stone walls. You can see some of them in the photos. (Click on blog link for other photo.)
Thanks to everyone who volunteers their time and energy to make this happen. We are so lucky to have such a gorgeous place nearby to enjoy!
The Red Maple Swamp Trail at Fort Hill is beautiful any time of the year. With all of the rain that we’ve had the past few weeks, the water is pretty high around the boardwalk making for some really pretty reflections. Have you hiked there recently?
The Great Blue Heron has always been my favorite bird. I love to watch them standing in the water, patiently waiting for a fish to swim by. Just beautiful…
