Huge Tidal Pools On Coast Guard Beach On Cape Cod.

We were surprised to see the huge tidal pools on Coast Guard Beach the other day. We hadn’t taken a walk down the beach in a couple of weeks and it had changed so much. (Click on blog link for other photo.)

There were a couple of these pools along the beach, this being the largest and over a foot deep. It must be getting fed when the tide comes in.

Have you seen these tidal pool along Coast Guard Beach? I’ve never seen them there before, have you?

High Tide By The Salt Pond In Eastham On Cape Cod.

Sometimes the trail gets a little covered with water at high tide on the Nauset Marsh Trail by the Salt Pond, but there is a trail over the hill that you can usually be able to use.

Best to check the tides before you venture out…

Walk The Breakwater In Provincetown To Long Point!

Walking the mile long rock jetty, or breakwater, from Provincetown to Long Point Beach and Long Point Lighthouse is an experience you will never forget. The views of the expansive beach and looking back toward Provincetown are just spectacular! (Click on blog link for other photos.)

Long Point is the sandy tip of Cape Cod across from Provincetown Harbor.  It is literally “Land’s End.” You can see Wood End Light in the above photograph way in the distance.

The walk out on the breakwater is across boulders the entire way, so you need to be careful and check the tides as the rocks can get very slippery at high tide.

Or, for the “faint-of-heart,” there is a Long Point Shuttle that will transport you from Provincetown to Long Point Beach!

Looking For Lunch On The Salt Marsh… A Series Of Photographs.

We were taking a hike along the Nauset Marsh Trail past the Salt Pond when we saw this Great Blue Heron in the marsh stalking his prey for his next meal. (Click on blog link for series of photos.)

I thought it would be interesting to post a series of photos as he was so much fun to watch. In photos 2 and 3 you can see him stalking in the wetlands and then darting for the fish.

The 4th photograph shows his total contentment with his satisfying lunch.

And the last photograph shows him flying away…

Still my favorite bird… he’s just gorgeous!
