It was a beautiful fall day to hike the Red Maple Swamp Trail at Fort Hill. It was early in the morning, before anyone else was around. A lot of the leaves had already fallen as you can see on the boardwalk. (Click on blog link for other photo.)
I took the first photograph and then zoomed out for the 2nd photo. I can’t decide which one I like better. What do you think?
It looks like most of the lobster pots out in Nauset Marsh have been taken in for the winter. You can see a huge stash of them here at Hemenway Landing, waiting to be picked up.
These Double-Crested Cormorants were certainly loving this little shed on the Salt Pond by the Eastham Visitors Center. I counted 16 there at one time, either in the water or sitting on top.
Perfect place for them to perch and dry their wings.
