Yesterday morning was one of those days when you looked outside the window, it looked gorgeous. But when you went outside, it was frigid. The temp was 34 degrees but with 35 mph winds, it was pretty cold.
I thought a walk in the woods at Wiley Park might be a bit warmer. It definitely was, but the biggest surprise was when I got to the beach, it was secluded from the wind and was quite warm. No wind, no waves… ahhhh… perfect!
The clouds in the skies have been just beautiful lately. I was walking down the trail to the beach on the Eastham side of Rock Harbor at low tide and this is what I saw. Just gorgeous!
If you’ve ever hiked at the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, you know there are many different benches on the trails for you to sit and relax and just enjoy the views. I especially liked this one on the Bay View Trail looking out over the salt marsh toward Wellfleet Harbor.
“Uncle Tim’s Bridge was established in 1783, when it was first named “The New Bridge”. Uncle Tim’s Bridge crosses Duck Creek and connects Hamblen Island to the central village of Wellfleet. In the 1800s Timothy E. Daniels, known as Uncle Tim, had a retail shop located right across from the bridge which bears his name to this day. Uncle Tim’s Bridge is listed on the State Historic Register.”
There is a small parking lot nearby so you can take the .5 mile walk out to the island for some spectacular views.
I always love the trails to the beach here on Cape Cod. Each one is so different and so unique. Will there be clouds over the horizon or just the water meeting the sky….
