One of my favorite bike rides here on Cape Cod is the Cape Cod Bike Trail to the Salt Pond Visitor’s Center and then out to Coast Guard Beach. It takes in everything. You can see the salt marshes, the kettle ponds, the woods, the meadows, the beach and much more.
I bumped into a man on the wooden bridge over the salt marsh the other day and I said to him, “Beautiful view, huh?” He replied, “Everywhere you turn there are beautiful views here on Cape Cod! I haven’t seen a bad view yet!” How true!
When I get to Coast Guard Beach, there are some benches and a picnic table to sit and relax. It doesn’t get much better!
I finally got my new bike here on Cape Cod and I am ecstatic! There are so many new places to ride to and explore and the Cape Cod Bike Trail, which is right near my home, goes for 40 miles. Each day I try to take a different route which has been so much fun!
I used to love to ride when we lived in Connecticut, but when we moved to Colorado it was so mountainous and the shoulder on the roads was tiny that I never got into biking out there. I really missed it.
So, this is such a big treat! I love it! I am having a blast!
I loved this photograph of a flock of birds flying over Boat Meadows in Eastham on Cape Cod at dusk. It was such a tranquil scene at the end of a day. Wonder where they were going?
I looked out the kitchen window yesterday and saw a huge flock of Canada Geese in our yard here in Orleans on Cape Cod. So I got my camera and clicked away.
And the I looked up in the tree by the water and saw about 15 birds perched on the branches. What were they? A quick look with my binoculars told me they were all Northern Flickers. Wow! What treat!
And then, not 10 seconds later all the Canada Geese and Northern Flickers were all of a sudden in flight like something had frightened them.
Lo and behold…a huge Red-Tailed Hawk flew overhead and the mystery was solved! Pretty exciting for a stretch of about 5 minutes!
