The winter of 2018 was quite harsh for Cape Cod… from eroding beaches and dunes to heavy winds and microbursts that downed many trees in the area. We lost 5 huge trees in our yard alone.
You can still see some of the the 200+ trees that were felled by the many nor’easters from January through March of 2018 as you hike along some of the trails in Nickerson State Park in Brewster.
The volunteers at Nickerson do an exceptional job keeping the trails clean and hikeable and bikeable all year long. Thank you at Nickerson State Park, it certainly is an enjoyable place to hike.
The early morning light was so pretty as I biked to the Eastham side of Rock Harbor. You can see across the salt marsh and the creek to the boats docked in the harbor. I don’t think many people see this side of Rock Harbor.
My favorite time of the day is 6:00 am when I take a glorious bike ride… over the salt marsh, to the beach, to the harbors, through town and back home on the bike trail. This is Boat Meadow Beach in the early morn with high tide approaching.
Biking on Cape Cod is one of my all-time favorite things to do! I love to get up early and be on my bike by 6:00… then I have the road and all the wildlife and birds to myself! It doesn’t get much better!
So glad that the warmer weather is here, hopefully to stay! I took this photograph at Rock Harbor which is along my favorite route!
Rock Harbor is one of my stops along my bike route in the early morning. I love the peace and serenity of Cape Cod Bay that greet me at the end of the dock.
Just beautiful, don’t you think?
