I was just commenting to Phil that I had not seen a Cooper’s Hawk in our yard in a long time. They frequently like to hang out in the trees near our bird feeders, looking for their next meal. (Click on blog link for other photo.)
And then this beautiful hawk landed on a branch nearby and I was able to take some nice photos, even through the window. He stayed for a bit, but then flew away when he realized there were no birds anywhere nearby.
The drive up Route 6 to Provincetown is always scenic, but when you hit the crest of the hill overlooking P’Town, it takes your breath away…. always so pretty! Anticipation takes over…
It’s always such a treat to hike the trails at the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. There is always so much to see and it is always changing. (Click on blog link for other photo.)
You can hike the Silver Spring Loop Trail where you can see many varieties of wildflowers as well as many different kinds of birds. Or you can hike out to the beach and see the various shorebirds that like to feed there.
Have you ever hiked at the Audubon in Wellfleet? It’s great fun for the whole family!
There were quite a few seals swimming about at low tide on Coast Guard Beach. It’s always so much fun to see the seals and watch all of their playfulness in the water.
We had quite a few Hummingbirds at the beginning of the summer and then none for many weeks, so we were excited when this Ruby-throated Hummingbird came back this week.
She’s been hanging around the hummingbird feeder and flowers quite a bit, but I really liked this photograph of her resting on a branch in the tree.
