Black And White Photograph Of The Boardwalk At Fort Hill On Cape Cod

We took  this black and white photograph of the boardwalk on Red Maple Swamp Trail the same time we took the photograph of the Fort Hill Trail yesterday.

It’s really cool how you walk on the boardwalk over the swamp on the trail. This time of year it is pretty wet and definitely swampy!

It’s another cool hike at Fort Hill! Kids love it!

Winter Kite Surfing On Cape Cod Bay

It was a windy day and there were plenty of kite surfers out enjoying the perfect windy conditions. This kite surfer was in the salt marsh that was flooded at high tide. He was really enjoying himself.

Love how he caught the wind and was airborne. Cool, don’t you think?

It seems like the clouds in so many of my recent posts have been unbelievable… just spectacular! Wonder if it’s the winter clouds?

Rare, Thick-Billed Murre At Boat Meadow Beach On Cape Cod

Phil and I were enjoying a glorious day at Boat Meadow after the snowstorm last week when I saw this duck out of the corner of my eye. It was swimming close to shore and didn’t look very familiar. I had my camera so I clicked away.

I checked my Sibley when I got home but all I came up with was a Thick -Billed Murre which is rare around here, especially on the bayside.

I waited until our friend, who is an astute birder,  returned from his vacation and showed him my photograph. Yes, it was a Thick-Billed Murre and he was most jealous! He has never seen one .

How cool is that?!
