I headed down to Nauset Beach in Orleans on Cape Cod for a walk after the snow the other night. The beach was spectacular and still full of snow!
You could see tracks from cross-country skiers, fat bike tire tracks, and foot prints. It’s such a comfort to know that the beach is always a great place for a walk in the winter, especially when it is icy outside.
It doesn’ get much prettier… and you can walk for miles!
I can see why people like to take photographs of beach fences on Cape Cod. There are so many of them and each one is totally different and unique.
I saw this beach fence on Coast Guard Beach on Cape Cod. It was so pretty with the blue sky and waves in the background that I thought it deserved a spot on my blog.
Atlantic White Cedar Swamp Trail in Wellfleet on Cape Cod is a mostly shaded 1.2 mile loop which explores one of the Cape’s few remaining stands of Atlantic White Cedar, located on the former site of Camp Wellfleet, a U.S. Army base.
Early settlers split White Cedar into boards for houses and farm buildings as well as joists, frames, doors, rafters, floors, fence posts and even organ pipes. Being so easy to shape it was very versatile.
This is a great hike for the whole family any time of the year, but make sure you bring bug repellent if you hike it in the summer as there can be many mosquitoes on the boardwalk over the swamp.
The wooden fence, the beach grass, the sky with the clouds and the ocean… at Nauset Beach in Orleans on Cape Cod. Nauset Beach is one of the most beautiful and popular beaches on Cape Cod. It goes on for miles and miles. Nauset Beach is gorgeous from sunrise to sunset. Bring your camera and take a look…any time, any season.
We took advantage of many gorgeous winter days to walk along the beaches in Cape Cod, especially Coast Guard Beach which has been rated as one of the top 10 beaches in the world! Henry David Thoreau, in his book Cape Cod, named Coast Guard ‘The Great Beach’. A fitting name as the beach seems to go on forever sharing sands with other famous names such as Marconi and Nauset.
This was a perfect day for a walk on Coast Guard Beach! The temperatures were in the 60s and just glorious!
