The 2013 Breach Of Ballston Beach In North Truro On Cape Cod

pamettrailbreakthrough

One of the trails in the Pamet Trail Area  in North Truro on Cape Cod goes to a stunning overlook where, during a winter storm in 2013,  the Atlantic Ocean breached the huge sand dunes on Ballston Beach and sent surging waves up the Pamet River all the way to Route 6. It is unbelievable how the coastline changed during that winter storm.

You can see in this photograph how powerful the breach was that winter day as it broke through the dunes.

Pamet Trail is great hike and worth the effort to see these spectacular views. A hike for the whole family!

Yesterday was one of the most beautiful days that I have seen here on Cape Cod! The trails were busy with bikers and hikers and the beaches were busy with people enjoying the spectacular day!

Some kids were even in the water! Amazing for October 11th, huh?

It doesn’t get much better than this!

Yellow Clouded Sulphur Butterfly In Eastham On Cape Cod

I’ve only seen 2 types of butterflies since we arrived here on Cape Cod a month ago…. a white one and this pretty yellow Clouded Sulphur butterfly.

It was the same species that I saw a lot of in Colorado.

So pretty, don’t you think?  Love his eye!

We Saw Our First Red Fox At The Audubon Sanctuary In Wellfleet On Cape Cod

We had our first sighting of a Red Fox at the Audubon Sanctuary in Wellfleet on Cape Cod the other day. He was walking through the woods and then lay down for a nap.

It was pretty cool as we had never seen one here before.

Have you ever seen a Red Fox? Look at that bushy tail!

White Queen Anne’s Lace Wildflower Is Pretty As It Blooms And As It Goes By On Cape Cod

There were fields and fields of Queen Anne’s Lace wildflowers everywhere as we went for a hike at Fort Hill in Eastham on Cape Cod. They are such a pretty and delicate white wildflower.

And then, as they go by, they shrivel up and turn almost inside out.
