The CG36500 Is Back At Rock Harbor On Cape Cod!

It’s so nice to see the CG36500 back in the water at Rock Harbor, after much “sprucing up” in Chatham in the past few weeks.

The CG36500 has so much history. “Coast Guard Motor Lifeboat CG-36500 is a historic, 36-foot lifeboat that is berthed at Rock Harbor in Orleans, Massachusetts. Built in 1946, it is notable for its involvement in the 1952 SS Pendleton rescue, one of the most daring such events recorded in the history of the United States Coast Guard. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005, and now serves as a museum boat.”

Lots Of Horseshoe Crabs Mating At Hemenway Landing On Cape Cod.

It’s mating season for the Horseshoe Crabs at Hemenway Landing. You could see a lot of them along the edge of the water. (Click on blog link for other photo.)

“The crabs live in the ocean year-round but come ashore like clockwork every year between the May and June full moons to mate and lay eggs.” The ones that I saw looked pretty old with lots of seaweed and barnacles growing on their shells.

Loading Up…Heading Out At Hemenway Landing On Cape Cod.

Yesterday was the day for these two fishermen to load up their oyster cages and bring them out to the waters of Nauset Marsh. (Click on blog link for other photo.)

We couldn’t believe how many cages they could load into their boat. Wow! So much hard work for these dedicated fishermen on such a cold and windy day.
