An Exciting Start To A New Boating Season!

You can see the boats that are the first ones  launched at Arey’s Pond this season. They are cleaned and rigged on the dock and then taken out to their moorings. Pretty soon the pond will be filled with sailboats ready to take that maiden voyage down the river and out to Pleasant Bay.  It’s such an exciting time of the year!

The Beginning Of Their Journey On Cape Cod.

“Every spring, adults make their way from offshore waters into coastal estuaries from New England through the Carolinas. Hard-wired to advance upstream to spawn, river herring run up freshwater rivers, launching through rapids and over rocks, funneling by the thousands into smaller and smaller streams.”

This is the beginning of one of the runs from Cape Cod Bay to Great Pond and Herring Pond. You can see the Herring making their way to the smaller streams and then into the lakes to spawn. It is so amazing to watch them jump over the rapids or barriers to make their way upstream.

The Beach Trail At Coast Guard Beach On Cape Cod.

If you walk down Coast Guard Beach and go to the backside, you can usually follow a trail back on the marsh side of the dunes, unless the birds are nesting. This is one trail that you could use to get back on the beach.

There is now a huge drop-off of maybe 10+ feet. Wow!

Yesterday Was Stormy At Rock Harbor On Cape Cod.

The tide was so high and the waves were cranking at Rock Harbor yesterday morning. You could see that the beach grass had washed all the way up to the middle of the parking lot. Wow!

It’s just so amazing to see waves that big on Cape Cod Bay! You can see the waves crashing on the jetty.
