I’ve seen many of these Prickly Pear Cactus flowers in the sand along the sides of the road here on Cape Cod. There are a couple of Prickly Pear Cactus plants on the road to Boat Meadow Beach.
They bloom from June through August in sandy soil and dunes and are so pretty and delicate. They are native and on the “Massachusetts List of Endangered, Threatened and Special Concern Species.”
It was a gorgeous view from Fort Hill overlooking Nauset Marsh and out toward Coast Guard Station in the distance. The Goldenrod was in full bloom and so pretty!
The Blue-Eyed Grass wildflower is still blooming in my yard here on Cape Cod. It is such a pretty wildflower with vivid blue petals and bright yellow stamen and pistils.
It’s the time of the season when the wildflowers start to seed and then disperse their seeds to the wind. I always thought it was so interesting when the Queen Anne’s Lace is ready to seed, it folds itself up as it gets ready to disperse its seeds.
The trail with the clouds in the sky and the Queen Anne’s Lace on the side was just beautiful at Fort Hill. It is such a great place to hike as there is always something new to see.
