The Lesser Stitchwort wildflowers are blooming and just gorgeous. I saw them the other day along the trails at Fort Hill. They have pretty star-like flowers which are tiny, only 15-18mm across. It’s very hard to miss them, if you are not looking.
So pretty, don’t you think? I love the pink anthers!
The little, white Lilies of the Valley are blooming all over the trails on Cape Cod. You might see one here or there and then a whole group of them which is so pretty. Such pretty little bell-shaped flowers hanging from the stalk.
Have you seen any Lilies of the Valley wildflowers this year?
The little purple and pinkish Beach Pea wildflowers are blooming all over the Cape. I’ve seen at them at Fort Hill and at most of the beaches.
The Beach Pea is a vine-like plant with many irregularly shaped 1″ flowers suspended above the plant. They bloom in June and July along the dunes and salt marshes, so you have plenty of time to see them!
Interesting fact: They got their name because their fruit resembles a garden pea. So pretty, don’t you think?
The Wild Roses are starting to bloom on the beach trails here on Cape Cod. They are so pretty in their shades of pink and white and lend to the ambiance of a Cape Cod beach.
The delicate, white Starflowers are blooming all along the Cape Cod trails and are just gorgeous! The flowers are only 1/2″ to 3/4″ while the plants only grow to about 6-8 inches. You can find them on the trails in the cool, dry woods.
So pretty, don’t you think? Have you seen a Starflower this spring?
