The Bearberry ground plants are still green and the little whitish-pink bell-shaped flowers that bloomed from March through June have turned into bright red berries to adorn them in December. They remind me of the holidays!
I’ve seen lots of them along the wooded trails at Nickerson State Park. So pretty, don’t you think? Have you seen any?
Even the Poison Ivy leaves change color in the fall, turning into this beautiful, vibrant red. However, “leaves of three, let them be.” The leaves or even the vines can give you a nice rash.
But pretty, don’t you think? I like the fence with the orange Bittersweet berries in the background. Nice fall scene… except for the Poison Ivy!
I was looking for a perennial that bloomed in late summer so that I would still have some color in my yard come late August and September, when I found this Japanese Anemone. What a find!
Japanese Anemone blooms in late August and is still in full bloom in my yard. It is gorgeous with its bright pink flowers with yellow pistils and stamens. Not only is it growing, but it is multiplying with many new smaller shoots nearby.
I remember last year that when the flowers start to seed, they are just as pretty as when they are blooming. I’ll have to post another photo when they are going to seed.
