I love the Money Plants growing all over Caper Cod. They are one of my favorite springtime plants with their vibrant pink flowers. They seem to grow everywhere… on the sides of the roads, in the woods, in people’s yards… except at my home. I’ve planted seeds and scattered seeds but can’t seem to get them to grow. Is there a secret to when or how to plant Money Plant seeds? I would love any suggestions!
The Stork’s-Bill wildflower is one of the earliest and prettiest of the wildflowers here on Cape Cod. I saw these Stork’s Bill wildfowers at the Visitors Center in Eastham. (Click on blog link for other photo.)
It is an exquisite wildflower with “stems that bear bright pink flowers, which often have dark spots on the bases. The flowers are arranged in a loose cluster and have ten filaments – five of which are fertile – and five styles. The long seed-pod, shaped like the bill of a stork, bursts open in a spiral when ripe, sending the seeds into the air.”
Wishing you all a Happy Mother’s Day! May you find some time to take a little walk outside and enjoy all that Mother Nature has to offer!
The bright yellow Charlock Mustard wildflowers are growing all along the roadsides on Cape Cod. It is so nice to see some vibrant colors along the roads. It makes you think that spring is maybe here?
Happy May Day to you all! May you see a spring wildflower somewhere in your day.
I was so surprised to see this little purple Wild Myrtle in the middle of the woods behind my home. How on earth did it get there? I have never seen one there before.
When I saw this little bit of purple of there in the woods, I decided to investigate. What I found was one little wildflower and lots of leaves which may mean more flowers?
When we moved to Cape Cod a few years ago, I noticed this bit of yellow in the woods behind our house. I thought it was a piece of trash. Was I pleasantly surprised to see that it was a lovely yellow Daffodil! (Click on blog link to see other photo.)
How on earth did it get there? My neighbor and I think a squirrel must have brought it there when it was digging for nuts. Can you see it in the 2nd photograph? It’s right in the middle of the picture!
With the cold weather we’ve had the past week or so, I thought that it would be late in blooming this year. But, it’s about 3 weeks ahead of schedule from years past. Maybe from the mild winter that we had?
Pretty, don’t you think? (It’s a little droopy because the temps haven’t gotten much above freezing the past couple of days!) I sure am ready to put my winter parka away!
