Pretty Pink Lady’s Slipper Wildflowers Blooming On Cape Cod.

The pink Lady’s Slipper wildflowers are blooming here on Cape Cod and are so delicate and pretty. I’ve seen them along the trails on a lot of hikes, as well as in our back yard!

“Pink Lady’s Slipper is a large, showy wildflower belonging to the orchid family. Its flower is magenta to whitish-pink; sometimes the whitish pink flowers will have darker pink venation. This plant grows 6 to 15 inches tall and flowers generally between May and July.”

The Scarlet Pimpernel Wildflowers Are Blooming At Fort Hill On Cape Cod.

Scarlet Pimpernel, tiny,  bright reddish-orange wildflowers, are blooming along the trails at Fort Hill. They are just beautiful and grow in large clumps that you can see in the 2nd photograph. (Click on blog link for other photo.)

Did you know that the Scarlet Pimpernel flowers open only when the sun shines, and even close in overcast conditions?

I took these photographs along the Nauset Marsh Trail in Eastham. They are plentiful, as you can see in the 2nd photo, and just beautiful!

I think we all look forward to this time of the year to see these spectacular wildflowers dot the landscape at Fort Hill overlooking Nauset Marsh.
