First Bath For This Norther Flicker On Cape Cod?

Two young Flickers landed on our bird bath a couple of weeks ago. They would hop around the outside and then take a little drink. (Click on blog link for other photos.)

And then, one of them decided to try and take a bath. It was just adorable watching him very carefully get in the water and then splash around.

I love watching the baby birds here on the Cape and all their “firsts.” It doesn’t get much cuter!

Young Cooper’s Hawk On Our Deck On Cape Cod.

When I looked out the window, this juvenile Cooper’s Hawk was looking in at me. It took me by surprise! He looked around, hopped up on the bench, looked around some more and then flew off.

You could tell that he was a young hawk because he kept ruffling his feathers like he was waiting for mom to feed him.

So adorable, don’t you think? What a beautiful bird!

Adorable Baby Bluebirds Trying To Take A Bath In Our Yard On Cape Cod.

I looked out the window yesterday and 4 little Bluebird chicks were sitting around our tiny, little birdbath, trying to take a bath. It was just precious! (Click  on blog link for other photos.)

We had some baby Bluebirds here about a month ago, so this must be a 2nd brood. What a treat!

It doesn’t get much cuter!

Beautiful Belted Kingfishers Feeding At Arey’s Pond On Cape Cod.

We had stopped to watch all of the bird activity at Arey’s Pond the other morning when we saw 3 Belted Kingfishers flying about looking for food. (Click on blog link for other photo.)

I couldn’t get them all in one frame but this one looked like a baby waiting for his parent to feed him. Meanwhile, we watched the adult eat what looked like a turtle and then something else…maybe a fish?

What a great experience and so much fun to watch!
