This little White-breasted Nuthatch has moved into the birdhouse by our bedroom and greets us each morning by sticking his little head out the door. He is just adorable. (Click on blog link for other photo.)
In years past we have always had a Downy Woodpecker move into the birdhouse outside our bedroom window for the winter, but this little guy has been living there for a while. We’ll see who is there in a few weeks…
We were having a picnic breakfast at the beach yesterday when I saw a white “something” way out on beach grass. I had no idea what it was until… I got my binoculars and saw that it was a Snowy Owl. I was so excited! I had never seen one before so it was a first on my Life List!
I walked a little way down the beach so that I could get a better photograph of it, but I didn’t want to get too close. I was lucky as the sun was out and shining on him with the dark water in the background. I took a lot of photographs and this is the one I liked best.
By the time I got back to my car, the sun had gone in and he was in the shadows. I was just at the right place at the right time! Have you ever seen a Snowy Owl?
This little Carolina Wren was loving our bird bath. He was standing right on the wire for the heater. I wonder if he could feel the warmth of the water? Sure is a cute little guy!
All summer long, I kept looking for a good photograph of a Northern Mocking, but to no avail. I didn’t get any photographs, never mind a good one. (Click on blog link for other photo.)
And then the other day, we were taking a hike at Fort Hill and there was a Northern Mockingbird perched up on a branch. We got out our cameras and clicked away. He sure was ready to pose, flitting from branch to branch, for a long time.
Here are my two favorite ones. What do you think?
