It was a gorgeous day to take a walk on Nauset Light Beach and so windy! I walked down the beach toward Marconi and then just decided to sit in the sand and just enjoy the moment… or two…or three… (Click on blog link for other photographs.)
And then I saw these little Sanderlings scurrying along the beach right in front of me. I got my camera out and clicked away. I have not seen any Sanderlings all summer, so this was a big treat.
Such a cute little bird, don’t you think? Keep a lookout on the beaches as they often with spend the winter here.
Because of its distinct call, you can always hear the Great Crested Flycatcher before you can see it. It sounds like “Wheeep!” Once you start taking your walks or hikes, you will be amazed at how many you hear.
This Great Crested Flycatcher kept flitting from tree to tree in our yard before I finally got a photograph of it way up in the tree.
Have you ever seen, or heard, a Great Crested Flycatcher?
I took a walk to the beach on the bay side yesterday morning about 6:00am. The sky was gorgeous with pink hues and soft colors. The sailboat moored in the inlet was so pretty with the light shining on it. (Click on blog link for other photo.)
I got my camera out to take some photographs and when I zoomed in I saw something move. Hmmmm… what was that? It was a Great Blue Heron strutting around the deck peering into the water looking for breakfast. Haha!
Phil and I were out for a picnic breakfast when we saw this Green Heron by the side of the pond. What treat! We hadn’t seen one all summer! (Click on blog link for other photos.)
I followed it around for a bit and got 3 distinctly different photographs of the same bird.
What do you think?
