These two Laughing Gulls were taking it all in on the back side of Coast Guard Beach the other day. They get their name because their high-pitched call sounds just like they are laughing!
We were walking on the Nauset Marsh Trail around the Salt Pond when I saw this Osprey way up in the sky circling the pond. All of a sudden, he started hovering as if he was going to dive down for a fish, but he never did.
I liked this photograph of him hovering in mid-air. What do you think?
The little Piping Plover chicks were scurrying all over the beach yesterday, and boy were they fast! And so cute! (Click on blog link for other photos.)
Mom was nearby making sure that no one got too close to her little ones. They are just adorable, don’t you think? Look at those long legs!
I have heard the distinct call of the Great Crested Flycatcher for many weeks now… always in the woods and always a little too far away until the other day…
I was taking a walk one afternoon in my neighborhood and heard his call. Hmm. He didn’t seem too far away, so I waited until I could hear his call closer. And there, on the tree in the woods was the Great Crested Flycatcher. I clicked and clicked away and only got 1 good photograph. Here it is!
Beautiful bird, don’t you think? I hear him all the time in the woods around our home, but rarely does he land on a tree near me.
