We were so surprised to see this House Sparrow feeding its young at our bird feeder the other evening. It seemed so late in the season to see little chicks. The baby was adorable and almost as big as the parent! (Click on blog link to see other photos.)
We’ve had a lot of Catbirds in our yard this summer. I love their very distinctive call… like a cat’s meeow! This one was perched on top of our feeder calling away. Sometimes they like to mimic other bird calls.
Yesterday was a glorious day to take a walk on Coast Guard Beach or anywhere on Cape Cod. It was just spectacular! And after the storm on Saturday, the seagulls and other shorebirds were enjoying many of the clams and mussels that washed up on shore.
This guy wasn’t going to let anyone steal his food!
This Song Sparrow was singing away atop of this post along the side of the road at Fort Hill. The funny part was… it kept answering a Red-winged Blackbird nearby. Every time the Red-winged Blackbird would call out, this Song Sparrow would answer it.
