Red-Throated Loon At Coast Guard Beach On Cape Cod.

I love to see the Red-Throated Loon in the water off of Coast Guard Beach on Cape Cod. It is such an elusive seabird as it continuously dives for its food.

This Loon just surfaced and was looking around, so we got a minute to click away.

Beautiful bird, don’t you think?

Female Cardinal On The Beech Forest Trail In Provincetown On Cape Cod.

It was such a treat to see this female Cardinal while hiking the Beech Forest Trail in Provincetown. I love Cardinals! We had read a story years ago about 2 Cardinals, male and female, who were named Red and Birdie. Since then all of the Cardinals that we see are either Red or Birdie!

Isn’t she beautiful?

Wild Turkeys At The Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary On Cape Cod!

We were at the Wellfleet Wildlife Sanctuary a couple of weeks ago when I was looking out the window in the museum and there were some wild Turkeys. I thought that might be a nice Thanksgiving photograph. And then… they spread their feathers and turned around as if they were modeling. Ha!

Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving!!

Eight Great Blue Herons On Nauset Marsh On Cape Cod.

There was a huge flock of birds out on Nauset Marsh, part of the National Seashore,  the other day. Many were Double-Crested Cormorants with some Seagulls and Egrets mixed in.

I was so surprised when I got home and counted 8 Great Blue Herons on the far shore. I wonder what brought them all together…

I had never seen that many together before. Have you?
