South Beach In Chatham On Cape Cod…Wow!

Phil and I used to kayak to Monomoy Island from Stage Harbor in the early 2000s, before the Great Whites came. There were always lot of seals about but you never had to worry back then. Our favorite place to stop for a picnic lunch was on the inside of South Beach, a stretch of beach that was miles long extending from Chatham almost to Big Monomoy Island.

I was so surprised to see South beach a few days ago with signs that said, “Do not walk on sandbar.” This beautiful beach that was soooo long was now only a tiny little sandbar. The Atlantic Ocean had breached the beach and finally swallowed it all up, except for this little piece. Wow!

The Kayakers And SUPs Were Out Yesterday On The Salt Marsh On Cape Cod!

Yesterday was a glorious day on Cape Cod with the temps in the low 70s. It was the beginning of the first really beautiful weekend all spring. The Kayayers and SUPs were taking advantage of this warm weather by paddling along the creek in the salt marsh. They looked like they were having a blast!

New Kayak And Canoe Racks At Hemenway Landing On Cape Cod.

With so many people kayaking Nauset Marsh in the summer, a place was needed a place to store their kayaks. In years past, people would tie their kayaks or canoes up on the shore in the grass. This year they will be able to store them on these new racks that have been put in for their use.

You can see that already a few people havetaken advantage of the racks. I’m sure in the next few weeks we will see them full as we’ve already seen many kayakers out on the marsh already.
