Yesterday was a gorgeous fall day with temperatures in the 60s when we saw these two Gray Seals playing in the waves at Coast Guard Beach in Eastham on Cape Cod.
We stayed for quite a while as they entertained us with their surfing and swimming skills.
As you drive into the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary on Cape Cod, you see a “Slow Turtle Crossing” sign. There are a lot of turtles at the sanctuary and the staff and volunteers do an incredible job helping the Terrapins during the off-season.
These two turtles were lazing in the sun on a log on Silver Springs Pond.
We had our first sighting of a Red Fox at the Audubon Sanctuary in Wellfleet on Cape Cod the other day. He was walking through the woods and then lay down for a nap.
It was pretty cool as we had never seen one here before.
Have you ever seen a Red Fox? Look at that bushy tail!
Did you know that Box Turtles are exclusively North American and occupy the eastern United States? They have a hinged lower shell that can almost completely close up. Did you know that the Box Turtle burrows almost 2 feet down in the earth in October or November until April?
I didn’t know any of these fact until I looked them up. Pretty cool.
I happened to see this colorful little guy crossing the road right in front of my new home. Welcome, little Box Turtle!
