Lazy Seal On Nauset Marsh Sandbar On Cape Cod.

I’m always so surprised to see the seals at Nauset Marsh and away from the ocean. They never used to swim in toward the marsh but now they make their way quite far into Nauset Marsh and even up toward Town Cove. (Click blog link for other photo.)

We saw this guy on the sandbar by Nauset Spit. You can see the channel marker nearby showing the boats the channel deep enough to get out on the open water. He looks pretty content, don’t you think?

Who Is Sunning Themselves On The Rocks In Pleasant Bay On Cape Cod?

Phil and I were out  scouting different launch sites for kayaking around the Pleasant Bay area when we came across this rock out in the water. Hmmm… What was that on the rock? It was way too early for the Cormorants to be back. (Click on blog link for other photo.)

It wasn’t until I got my binoculars out that I saw that they were seals! Wow! And they were pretty far into Little Pleasant Bay and not very far from shore. I have never seen seals there before, especially in the winter! I did not even know that they were around in the winter. They did appear to be enjoying the sunny day lounging on the rock.

Still Plenty Of Seals At Coast Guard Beach On Cape Cod.

We were so surprised to see so many seals still swimming around at Coast Guard Beach the other day. They were pretty close to shore. (Click on blog link for other photo.)

It was low tide so we walked down the beach to Nauset Spit where we saw a huge sandbar covered with hundreds of seals. And were they making a racket! You could hear them from far away!

The Seals At Coast Guard Beach On Cape Cod.

There were about 50 seals relaxing in the shallow waters off of Coast Guard Beach the other morning. Phil took this photo of me looking at them. It looks like they are only a few feet away. Pretty cool, huh?

Look at that guy right in front! Too funny! He looks like he’s laughing!

There Are A Lot Of Seals In Nauset Marsh On Cape Cod!

We had a  wonderful paddle in our kayaks around Nauset Marsh from Goose Hummock the other day. It was  a gorgeous day, with blue skies and a nice breeze. A nice respite from the hot and humid weather that we have been having lately. (Click on blog link to see other photo.)

We saw several seals swimming in the waters near Nauset Spit, which we have seen for the past couple of years. It wasn’t until we started to paddle back via another route that we heard this very loud cacophony which sounded just like seals. As we got closer we could see a sandbar that had hundreds of seals lazing about. Wow! We were shocked… that there were so many seals there so far from the spit and not very far from Town Cove. When did that happen?

Has anyone else seen all of these seals on the marsh side of Nauset Spit?
