Nauset Light Beach, part of the National Seashore, is always so pretty from the overlook. People were doing a great job of “social distancing” on the beach. I loved the colorful beach umbrellas scattered along the beach.
My granddaughter counted 55 seals in the video I sent her of the seals at Coast Guard Beach. That sure seems like a lot! (Click on blog link for other photo.)
I loved this guy, taking a nap with everyone else around him. Too funny, don’t you think?
This summer has been the summer for kayaking on Nauset Marsh and other areas on Cape Cod. There are kayakers going out at all times of the day.
I took this photograph from Hemenway Landing, which is a popular launch for kayakers. There were quite a few in that group enjoying their paddle as well as the hot summer weather!
We were so surprised when we saw this Harlequin Duck on Coast Guard Beach the other day. It seemed happiest out of the water on the sand, but every time someone walked by on the beach, it would scoot back in the water. (Click on blog link for other photos.)
We had never seen a Harlequin Duck before. In looking at a map of its range, Harlequin Ducks are usually seen here more in the winter or in the early spring.
I loved this last photograph as it was trying to dry off and walk along the beach. Such a treat to see this duck but also hope that it gets where it is going soon!
