This Red-tailed Hawk landed in my yard the other morning. I was sure it was looking for breakfast, but I was mistaken.
It walked around looking at all of the little branches that had fallen off the trees this winter and found that perfect one to build its nest, picked it up and off it flew.
That was really cool to see so “up close and personal!”
I just loved this photograph of these four little Sanderlings on the shores of Cape Cod as they braved the heavy winds by the ocean. All of the birds were facing right into the wind so they looked like they were all in perfect formation!
It was one of those days when you walk on Nauset Beach and the seagulls just stare at you and don’t move. The wind is blowing, the sun is shining and it’s a glorious day!
This guy just stood in the water and watched as I clicked away. Cute little guy, don’t you think?
I saw my first Harlequin Duck off of Nauset Beach on Cape Cod this week. I had never seen one before!
I was taking a walk along the beach when I saw these three diving ducks a little bit offshore. I wasn’t sure what kind of ducks they were so I took a few photographs. They looked pretty dark with two white spots on their heads.
As I looked them up in my Sibley Guide to Birds, I learned that an adult breeding Harlequin Duck is very colorful, where an adult non breeding Harlequin Duck looks just like this from November to May.
I loved this photograph of a flock of birds flying over Boat Meadows in Eastham on Cape Cod at dusk. It was such a tranquil scene at the end of a day. Wonder where they were going?
What do you think?
