Beautiful, Yellow Common St. John’s Wort Wildflowers On Cape Cod

Common St. John’s Wort wildflowers are blooming all over Cape Cod. You can see them along the trails and roadsides. I took this photograph at Fort Hill on the side of one of the hiking trails. I loved how the sunlight caught it.

They are a bushy branching plant with many 5-petaled dark yellow  1″ flowers and many prominent stamens. They grow to about 1-2 1/2 feet from June through September.

Have you ever seen a Common St. John’s Wort wildflower?

Early Morning Surfing On Coast Guard Beach On Cape Cod

It was  a beautiful morning for a walk to Coast Guard Beach, part of the Cape Cod National Seashore. Peering through the cutout of the bushes, you can see the lifeguard stand and a surfer coming in. So pretty…

Perfect day for a walk and perfect day to be at the beach!

Sit On This Bench At Fort Hill And Relax On Cape Cod

This is one of my favorite places to sit and relax and enjoy the spectacular views of Nauset Marsh and out onto the ocean. There is always so much to see and hear as it is ever-changing.

Have you ever sat on this bench? It doesn’t get much better! I loved the evening sun on the high grass… so pretty!

Great place for a picnic if you’re in the area!

Nauset Spit Through The trees At Fort Hill On Cape Cod

The views over Nauset Marsh to Nauset Spit, where Nauset Beach is separated from Coast Guard Beach by a breach, is spectacular… any time of the day, any time of the year.

I really liked this photograph looking through the trees out onto Nauset Marsh from the carving stone at Fort Hill. It was evening but there were still plenty of boats out enjoying the gorgeous summer weather.

Pretty photograph, don’t you think?

Beautiful American Copper Butterfly On Cape Cod

The American Copper butterflies are so colorful with their vibrant orange and black colors. I saw this American Copper at Fort Hill on the side of the trail. I almost missed it as when their wings are closed up they are a light grey with tiny black dots. It’s only when they open their wings that you can see the beautiful orange and black.

American Copper butterflies are small, only about 1″ with orange forewings and about 8 black dots and a black outer edge.
