The sailing season at Arey’s Pond Boat Yard is definitely getting shorter as you can see the beautiful masts which have been taken off of the catboats. These will either be put into storage until next spring or taken inside to varnish or repair over the winter.
Arey’s Pond Boat Yard is a one stop boat yard. Their work is second to none and their boats are just gorgeous. They will haul your boat out in the fall, “de-rig” it, and store the boat and everything with it for the winter. They will repair anything needed and then rig it and put it back in the water in the spring for you to enjoy. It doesn’t get any better!
It’s almost time to put the boats away and pull in those moorings until next season. I bet there’s plenty of sailors who will brave the cooler weather and enjoy a few more sails out in beautiful Pleasant Bay.
There’s a lot of activity at Arey’s Pond as those classic, handmade Catboats are getting ready to be put in the water for the season. You can see some of them already at their moorings or at the dock.
It’s such an exciting time of the year… and look at that sky!
You can see the boats that are the first ones launched at Arey’s Pond this season. They are cleaned and rigged on the dock and then taken out to their moorings. Pretty soon the pond will be filled with sailboats ready to take that maiden voyage down the river and out to Pleasant Bay. It’s such an exciting time of the year!
The boats are still in and waiting for that perfect wind at Arey’s Pond in Orleans. The temperatures have been so warm, it’s still been awesome sailing weather! Maybe this weekend…?
