Yesterday was one of those glorious winter days with temps in the high 40s and sunny, blue skies. Anticipating the arctic weather that is supposedly coming this weekend, we thought it would be a perfect morning for a walk on Coast Guard Beach. (Click on blog link for other photos.)
It was only about 8:30 when we got to the parking lot and we couldn’t understand why it was almost full. When we got to the beach it all made sense. There were surfers everywhere!
We had fun taking photos and videos of the surfers and paddle boarders enjoying the beautiful weather. Just a perfect day and they all had smiles on their faces!
Did you know that there can be a tidal difference of between 8-12 feet from low tide to high tide on Cape Cod Bay?
In the first photo you can see the trucks (circled) out on the flats at low tide near First Encounter Beach while the fishermen are harvesting their oyster beds. The 2nd photo shows where the trucks were but now it is high tide. It always blows my mind to think that trucks can drive so far out there on the flats, while only a few hours later they would be totally under water!
We had stopped so I could take a few photos of Provincetown’s iconic Lobster Pot tree, when I heard so much noise coming from the tree. There were hundreds of birds flying in and out of the traps and they were chirping away. This little Finch stopped to bask in the sun for a minute. Isn’t he adorable?
I never get tired of walking the different trails to the beach. Each one is so different. Look at those clouds! And, you can even see some fall colors still in the tall grass.
The Lobster Pot Christmas tree in P’town is up and just beautiful again this year. Everyone looks forward to seeing this iconic tree downtown. So unique and so Provincetown! Have you seen it yet this year?
