When you think of Cape Cod, many people think of the beautiful beaches and the iconic beach fences. I loved this one at Herring Cove Beach right after it had snowed. (Click on blog link for other photo.)
I took the same fence from two different perspectives. Which one do you like better?
The clouds look almost like a watercolor painting, don’t you think?
“Closed For The Season” signs are in the windows of the ferries to Boston from Provincetown Harbor. Pretty soon, when the weather warms up a bit, the ferries will be running again and the docks will be swarming with people.
I loved the clouds in the sky above these booths. So pretty, don’t you think?
We took a ride up to Provincetown yesterday to see what Herring Cove Beach looked like after the storm last week. They sure did get a lot of snow up there! We could see the snow on the dunes as we were driving into Provincetown. (Click on blog link for other photo.)
When we got to Herring Cove Beach, we had to very carefully walk from the parking lot to the beach trail. Each trail had a lot of deep snowdrifts on it. It’s the most snow I’ve seen at the beach in a long time, much more than Wellfleet or Eastham.
In the last photograph, you can see the erosion mitigation fences. It was such a pretty day as the sun had just come out after many days of cloudy weather. You can even see Race Point in the distance.
This little gallery called Hammock Gallery caught my eye as we were walking along Commercial Street. I love the vibrant colors and what a background looking out onto the docks at Provincetown Harbor!
These two Brants were swimming about in Provincetown Harbor looking for food every chance they got! (Click on blog link for other photos.)
A Brant is a small goose with a partial white ring on its black neck. During the winter, their diet consists mostly of eel grass found in the water, thus why they are constantly diving!
I’m sure a lot of people mistake them for a Canada Goose as the coloring is similar, but its that partial ring on its black neck that helps me identify them. Have you seen any Brants this winter?
