Doane Rock On Cape Cod Is Huge!.

“Doane Rock is a glacial erratic located in Eastham, Massachusetts on the grounds of the Cape Cod National Seashore. It is the largest exposed boulder on Cape Cod. It stands 18 feet (5.5 m) high and extends below the ground an estimated 12 feet.”

Doane Rock is a cool place to visit as it has so much history. There are even picnic tables and trails nearby… and, kids love it! The 2nd photo is of one of the trailsĀ  from Doane Rock to Coast Guard Beach.

Pretty View By The Salt Pond In Eastham On Cape Cod.

This was such a pretty view of the canoes next to the salt pond by the National Seashore Visitors Center in Eastham. I love that hike overlooking Nauset Marsh and then back through the woods. Have you ever taken the Nauset Marsh Trail?

Extra Treats On The John Kendricks Trail On Cape Cod.

The John Kendricks Trail in Orleans is definitely a dog-friendly trail with fun treats for your special mutt. Along the way is a little box attached to a tree with all sort of goodies. It’s as much fun for the non-dog people as for the dog lovers!

It’s a great hike in the middle of the tall pine trees, a nice respite on a hot day.

Delicate, Little Lesser Stitchwort Wildflower At Fort Hill On Cape Cod.

If you look very closely, you can see all of the tiny, white Lesser Stitchwort wildflowers along the trails at Fort Hill. They have pretty star-like flowers which are tiny, only 15-18mm across. I love the bright pink anthers on their stamens.

Have you seen them at Fort Hill? They bloom through August, so you still have plenty of time.

Back On The Trails Again On Cape Cod!

After breaking my leg 8 weeks ago, it feels so good be be back on the trails again. I got the ok for “little hikes” or “short bike rides,” so we decided to try this trail from Doane Rock to the bridge at Coast Guard Beach. Phil surprised me and took this photograph of me enjoying the gorgeous scenery on one of my first times out!
