Love The Trees On Beech Forest Trail In Provincetown On Cape Cod.

There are some really cool trees on the Beech Forest Trail in Provincetown.  In Colorado, we used to call them “snow knees” as the snow would come down the mountain and cause many of the trees to bend from the weight and ice. Many ended up just growing this way.

I’m sure these “snow knees” are not caused from snow and ice, but they are pretty cool, nonetheless!

Have you ever seen these trees on the trail?

Gorgeous View Of A Kettle Pond In Provincetown On cape Cod!

I love springtime here on Cape Cod as the leaves are starting to come out and the colors are so vibrant. This was such a pretty scene at the pond by Beech Forest Trail. It seems like every time we go there, there is something new and exciting to see!

So pretty, don’t you think?

Two Otters At The Beech Forest Trail Pond On Cape Cod.

As we were taking photographs on the Beech Forest Trail, we noticed something swimming in the pond. Hmm… what could that be? There were two of them, swimming all over the place, diving under, looking like they were eating the lily pads. (Click on blog link for other photos.)

At first we thought they were Mink, but they were really big, maybe about 3′ long, as you can see in the 2nd photograph. They were pretty fast, so it was difficult to get a good photograph. When we got home I looked on the internet and realized that were Otters. Otters on Cape Cod?

Yes, there are many otters that swim in the kettle ponds, lakes and streams. Who knew? Another first for me!

Pretty Pink Lady Slipper On Cape Cod.

I  knew it was that time of the year when the pink Lady Slippers bloom, so I was on the lookout on the Beech Forest Trail in Provincetown. It was the perfect place for them to grow. And then there it was… on the side of the trail.

So pretty, don’t you think? Have you seen a Lady Slipper this year?

Colorful Wood Duck At Beech Forest Trail In Provincetown On Cape Cod.

I have only seen a Wood Duck once before in Florida many, many years ago, so it was a big treat to see a male and a female on the pond by the Beech Forest Trail. What a gorgeous bird! Love the reflection of his beautiful head in the water. (Click on blog link for other photo.)

You can see such a dramatic difference in coloring of the female in the 2nd photograph. It was hard to get a decent photograph as she blended in with the pond colors and lily pads so well.

Have you ever seen a Wood Duck? So stunning!
