Three Poses: Great Blue Heron At Boat Meadow On Cape Cod Searching For Breakfast

Boat Meadow Beach is always my first stop on my daily 6am bike ride.  It is so beautiful and  one of my favorite places after riding over the salt marsh to the beach. You never know what you are going to see.

This morning I was treated to a Great Blue Heron searching for breakfast in the shallow waters at low tide. I clicked as he walked along the shore. And then I couldn’t decide which photograph I like best.

Bouncing Bet Wildflowers Are Blooming On Cape Cod

I have seen these Bouncing Bet wildflowers  all around but never knew what they were called until I did a little research. And I had never heard of their name “Bouncing Bet” before, so this was a first for me!

Bouncing Bet wildflowers, also known as Soapwort,  have pale pink or lavender to whitish flowers with 5 petals, each having scalloped edges with an indent at the tip. The petals tend to fold back. The flowers form a cluster on a stiff stalk. They grow on open areas and roadsides, which is where I saw them overlooking Boat Meadow Creek, from July to September.

So pretty, don’t you think? Have you ever seen a Bouncing Bet?

Unique Rock Art At Boat Meadow On Cape Cod

There are a lot more rocks at Boat Meadow Beach since the ferocious storms last winter. Someone got creative and made some cairns from the rocks. It was really pretty along the edge of the shore. (A cairn is a  pile of rocks or stones, usually used to mark the trails for hikers.) So it was pretty innovative to see them on the beach.

Cool, don’t you think?
