Yesterday was a gorgeous morning for a hike on the Nauset Marsh Trail by the Visitor’s Center. There was still quite a bit of snow on the trail but we had our hiking poles which were very useful on the steeper parts.
That is such a beautiful hike any time of the year, and so pretty with all of the snow.
After the last storm, we were anxious to take a walk on Coast Guard Beach. Yesterday was a gorgeous day with sunny skies and warmish temps in the 40s. Just perfect…
We were surprised to see how high the dunes had gotten as we walked down toward Nauset Spit. In front of the dunes way in the distance, you can see a person with a dark jacket. He looks pretty small! Those dunes have grown pretty high in the past few weeks.
I wonder what surprises Mother Nature has in store for us after today’s Nor’easter?
The tides at all the beaches and salt marshes were extremely high yesterday. We had gotten an “alert” on our iPhones earlier in the day that there was a chance of coastal flooding.
We drove out to Nauset Light Beach about an hour and a half before the peak of high tide hoping that we could sneak in a short walk on the beach. That was not going to happen, the water went all the way up to the dunes already. Wow!
Did you get to see any of the beaches yesterday? It was amazing!
Did you know that on “January 18, 1903 the first public two-way wireless communication between Europe and America occurred. With elation, communiques from President Theodore Roosevelt and King Edward VII were translated into international Morse code at the South Wellfleet and English stations, respectively, and were broadcast.”
This is so cool! Have you ever seen the plaque on the Marconi Beach overlook?
