The weather has been so hot and humid lately that people are flocking to the beach in the evenings when it is a bit cooler and there’s a little breeze. Saturday evening I took a walk to Boat Meadow Beach and and it looked like a summer’s day as a sunfish and 2 stand-up paddle-boarders headed out on the cooler waters.
What a gorgeous view… and look at that sky! Wow! It doesn’t get much prettier!
The 31st Annual Arey’s Pond Cat Gathering was held this past weekend. It is a just-for-fun regatta for catboats and classic sailboats. It starts in Little Pleasant Bay, goes through The Narrows, and into Pleasant Bay. Every year nearly 100 boats come together for this parade of sail.
It was so much fun on Sunday watching all of the sailboats from the “Cat Gathering” starting their race in Little Pleasant Bay.
This boat was the only one that was brave enough to go out in the foggy and windy conditions on Little Pleasant Bay. We saw him come into shore very quickly with the strong winds behind him.
There’s a lot of activity at Arey’s Pond as those classic, handmade Catboats are getting ready to be put in the water for the season. You can see some of them already at their moorings or at the dock.
It’s such an exciting time of the year… and look at that sky!
Most of the moorings are out at Arey’s Pond with only a few more to go. Pretty soon this pond will be full of custom catboats, sailboats and motorboats all ready for the exciting summer ahead!
