The Iconic Chatham Pier Fish Market On Cape Cod.

During the season Chatham Pier Fish Market has “the best view in town.” While you eat, you can watch the fisherman unload the day’s catch at on-site picnic tables with waterfront views. It doesn’t get much better!

Have you ever been to Chatham’s Fish Pier? The market is closed for the season, but the boats still come in and the seals still wait for their handouts.

Three Seals At Boat Meadow Beach On Cape Cod!

I’ve never seen a seal at Boat Meadow Beach, so I was very surprised when I looked out at high tide on Wednesday morning and saw three seals swimming about. They stayed for quite a while. I wonder if the high, high tide had brought them in closer to shore. I hope they left before low tide came…

And then yesterday morning, they were back again at high tide, swimming around by Boat Meadow.

Have you ever seen a seal at Boat Meadow Beach?

Waiting For Lunch At The Chatham Fish Pier On Cape Cod.

There were a few seals swimming about in the harbor by the Chatham Fish Pier hoping one of the fishermen would  throw them some fish. (Click on blog link for other photo.)

This guy was patiently waiting as you can see the load of fish they brought in. There must be at least one for this hungry guy!

Be Aware Of Coyotes Here On Cape Cod!

I was taking a walk a couple of days ago when I saw this coyote cross Bridge Road in Eastham. It started following this man who was walking his dog on one of the side streets. The wind was howling so I couldn’t yell loud enough for him to hear me but it totally unnerved me. It seemed to be following them. I sure hope their house was nearby or the coyote gave up following them.

I’ve seen many coyotes around here, even in my yard, early in the morning or around dusk, but this coyote was out and about at 8:00 in the morning which seemed a bit late.

I had read about a man and his dog being cornered by some coyotes very early in the morning at Wiley Park a couple of weeks ago. So, when I got home I ordered a whistle that I will put in my pocket whenever I go for a walk, whether on the streets around my home or on one of the nearby trails. It was just way too close for comfort…

Pack Of Coyotes Feeding On A Humpback Whale By Nauset Marsh On Cape Cod.

We were at Hemenway Landing yesterday having our picnic lunch when we saw someone looking out in the distance with her binoculars. Hmmmmm…. what did she find? (Click on blog link for other photos.)

I got my camera and went out to see what she was looking at… a pack of Coyotes feeding on a Humpback Whale. Apparently this dead whale had washed up on the shores of Nauset Marsh a few weeks ago and then recently, with the big storm and huge tide, it washed way up on the shore of Nauset Marsh.

Three of the five Coyotes that we saw were feeding on the whale while the other two had finished feeding and were meandering out in the tall grass.

We just happened to be there at the right time. I never would have seen them without some help! Thank you to the lady with the binoculars… what a great sighting!
