Willett Searching For Food At Boat Meadow In Eastham On Cape Cod

I feel like I hit the jackpot yesterday when I went for a walk to Boat Meadow on Cape Cod. Thank goodness I had my camera. There were so many different birds!

It was almost high tide when this Willett was searching for food in the seagrass on the shore. It looks like he got a nice crab for lunch!

Willetts stand about 15″ tall with a wing span of 26.” When they fly,  the ends of their wings are black with a wide white stripe down the middle. Very pretty…

Great Blue Heron And Osprey At Boat Meadow On Cape Cod

Early yesterday morning we drove by Boat Meadow Marsh and my favorite bird, the Great Blue Heron, was standing among the reeds in the marsh. Perfect photo op. So when I got home I got my camera and walked back.

Blue (as I call him) was still there. Great! But only for a minute and then he flew away. Oh no! I missed him.

A couple of minutes later I saw 2 large birds flying in the sky. I thought they were courting. They seemed to be in sync.

It wasn’t until I went back and looked at my photographs closely that I realized that an Osprey was chasing the Great Blue Heron.

My First Walk To Boat Meadow From Our New Home Here in Eastham On Cape Cod

1st-walk

It’s official! We have moved in to our new home here in Eastham on Cape Cod. It is so exciting!

After many, many hours of unpacking boxes that were packed last June and putting things away, I decided to see how far it was to walk to Boat Meadows…. 9  1/2 minutes! Wow! I can do that any time. And not a bad view, huh?

Plus, there are benches to sit on to relax and just take in the gorgeous scenery.

I will post some photographs of our new home when we get it looking a little bit better. Lots of clutter everywhere, so a walk to the beach was the perfect medicine.
