The hot pink Everlasting Pea Wildflowers at Fort Hill are gorgeous and growing abundantly in the fields. They look like blankets of pink in the distance.
The Everlasting Pea is pink, and sometimes purple, with irregular-shaped flowers. The flowers are about 1″ on a sprawling plant that grows 3-4 feet on roadsides and meadows.
Have you ever seen an Everlasting Pea? Pretty, don’t you think?
There are lots of Bluebirds here on Cape Cod and usually you don’t have to travel far to see them. This little Bluebird loves to perch on the tree in our yard.
We put up 3 new birdhouses in April hoping that someone might occupy them this summer. We had 3 families of Chickadees move in for the first month or so. And then some Sparrows moved into 2 of the vacated houses and a Bluebird moved into the remaining house. It has always been my dream to have a Bluebird use a birdhouse in my yard. What treat! It’s been so much fun watching them come and go and bring food to their young.
Whenever I go near the house a Bluebird flies out so I know that they are still in there. This beautiful Bluebird loves to perch on the branch nearby.
I love walking on Coast Guard Beach is Eastham on Cape Cod. It goes for miles and miles and is just pristine. You can see why it was voted #6 in the country.
There has been a bit of erosion along the beach as you can see the high water mark quite distinctly with the 3-4 foot dunes near the water.
Always a beautiful walk… any day, any time, any weather!
The other night was a glorious sunset at Boat Meadow beach in Eastham on Cape Cod. It looked like the clouds were going to roll in, but at the last minute the sun poked through to make a gorgeous sunset.
Sunsets on Cape Cod Bay are always beautiful and a peaceful way to end the day.
Bright blue Chicory wildflowers are blooming all over Fort Hill on Cape Cod. Their intense blue color makes them easy to spot on the sides of the trails or in the fields.
Chicory grows on a stiff stalk and has numerous 1 and 1/2″ stemless flower heads with fringed petals. These bloom for only one day from June to October.
The part of the Chicory that always catches my eye are the exquisite stamens and pistils in the center. They look like little blue rods with a lasso at the top. Just beautiful!
