We were taking a hike along the Silver Spring Trail at the Mass Audubon Wildlife Sanctuary the other day when I saw some movement among the Pond Lilies. A turtle could not cause that much movement. What could it be?
We watched this little Muskrat swim across the little inlet and then come up on shore about 3 feet from us. It was very dark in the shade and there were a lot of branches and leaves, but we got a couple of photographs of him.
He’s about the size of a rat. Look at those feet and that long tail. Have you ever seen a Muskrat?
I have never seen a Black Swallowtail before it landed on one of my Zinnias in my backyard yesterday. I happened to see it out of the corner of my eye so I ran and got my camera and clicked away. He was just beautiful.
The Black Swallowtail is a large butterfly with its wingspan up to 3.5″. It is mostly black with iridescent blue on its hindwings and rows of yellow with an orange eyespot. You can in the 2 photographs how different it looks with its wings open and closed.
This was such a cool photograph of this “Surfer Girl” at Coast Guard Beach, which is part of the National Seashore, on Cape Cod. The lighting was perfect and she looked great!
Pristine day to take a walk on one of the USA’s Top 10 Beaches!
You can see Coast Guard Beach in Eastham on Cape Cod, which is one of the Top 10 Beaches in the USA, through the bushes by the Coast Guard Station. It is part of the National Seashore and truly one of the prettiest beaches you will ever see.
I took one of my friends for a walk there and she commented to me, “Now I remember! This was my very favorite beach on Cape Cod!”
If you haven’t visited Coast Guard Beach, put it on your Bucket List! It is pristine and goes on for miles!
It was a gorgeous day at the Mass Audubon Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary on Cape Cod. We were ready for a nice walk and maybe a few bird photographs. We were treated to an array of many different wildlife photographs. We couldn’t believe what we were seeing.
This is one of our favorite’s! The mighty Kingfisher landed on the log out in the middle of Goose Pond and then something scared all of the birds nearby. They flew just as Phil was clicking away.
Pretty cool, don’t you think?
