Hundreds Of Fiddler Crabs At The Salt Marsh Ponds On Cape Cod
When the tides get low, you can see Fiddler Crabs swarming the little ponds at the salt marshes on Cape Cod. I was walking home the other day when I saw hundreds of Fiddler Crabs coming out of their little holes in the salt marsh.
“Fiddler crabs are found along sea beaches and brackish inter-tidal mud flats, lagoons and swamps. Fiddler crabs are most well known for their sexually dimorphic claws; the males’ major claw is much larger than the minor claw while the females’ claws are both the same size.
Like all crabs, fiddler crabs shed their shells as they grow. If they have lost legs or claws during their present growth cycle, a new one will be present when they molt.”
The Summertime Eastham Banners Are Up On Cape Cod
When you see the summertime banners in Eastham on Cape Cod, you know there are a lot of surfing beaches nearby. It is so cool!
You can surf at Coast Guard Beach or Nauset Light Beach and just go and enjoy a lazy day at many of the bayside beaches. There is so much to do and so many places to go.

Pretty Blue Chicory Wildflower On Cape Cod
The vibrant blue Chicory wildflowers can be seen everywhere all over Cape Cod fields and roadsides. Chicory grows on a stiff stalk with stemless flower heads whose petals are fringed at the ends. Each flower lasts only about a day and close at midday.
Chicory wildflowers are about 1 to 1/1/2″ and the plants grow to 2-4 feet from June through October. Love their pistil and stamens… they look like little bright blue rods.
Very abundant on Cape Cod and very pretty.
