The Common Milkweed wildflowers look like a ball of little flowers which you can find all over Cape Cod this summer.
Common Milkweed wildflowers have tiny purplish to pink flowers which grow in 2″ round clusters . They bloom from June to August in fields and roadsides. I saw these Common Milkweed on the side of the trail while hiking at Fort Hill in Eastham.
The first photograph shows a fully bloomed cluster and the second photograph shows one that is just blooming.
I was driving home from a presentation on the Blizzard of 1978 at the Eastham Historical Society when I saw that the sunset was going to be special. I took a right and went to First Encounter Beach on Cape Cod Bay. The parking lot was packed.
I wondered if there was a concert on the beach or some other activity going on. I got one of the last parking spots. Only when I got out of my car and walked down to the beach did I realize that everyone there came to see the spectacular sunset! People were sitting on the beach, swimming and just hanging out waiting for that sun to dip below the horizon.
I saw plenty of seals playing in the ocean at Coast Guard Beach on Cape Cod the other day. I know they are the primary food for the Great White Sharks, so I kept my eye out for that prominent “fin” in the water.
There were some boogie boarders who thought it was cool to paddle out to try and get closer to the seals. I don’t think they know that a Great White Shark was spotted there several days ago. That would not be cool!
I love cloudy, windy days at the beach! This was such a perfect day to take a walk on Coast Guard Beach on Cape Cod. The temperatures were warm but the breeze made it just spectacular!
