Reflection At Rock Harbor In Orleans On Cape Cod

Rock Harbor in Orleans on Cape Cod is totally unspoiled. It looks like an old fashioned harbor with a gorgeous beach at low tide, full of hermit crabs and, if you happen to be there at sunset, you will be treated to an unbelievable sunset on Wellfleet Bay.

Most of the boats have been pulled from the water for the winter at Rock Harbor. All you can see now is the empty dock and pilings where the boats crowd in during the summer months.

I really liked this photograph of the reflection of the pilings at the dock at Rock Harbor. What do you think?

Migrating Birds And A Rainbow On Cape Cod To Wish You A Happy New Year!

birdsrainbowyptblog

This flock of birds was flying by on the shore of Wellfleet Bay in migration formation so we quickly got our cameras out and clicked away. And there, as if forming a circle above, was part of a rainbow as we looked up.

Very cool. Wishing you all a Happy New Year and may you find a rainbow in the New Year!

Innovative Seagull Eats A Clam At Boat Meadows On Cape Cod

This Seagull was so much fun to watch as it was trying to open a clam that it had found at the beach inlet in the water. First he leaned headfirst down to get the clam. And then he deposited it on the sand and stared at it.

He then put it back in his beak and started to fly, all of a sudden dropping it on a rock in the water.

He proceded to find it under the watwer, pick it up and swim to shore and have himself a feast. He was one mightly proud seagull!

Pretty amazing, huh? He not only knew where there was a rock under water, but knew exactly where to retrieve the clam once it was smashed.

Great Refraction Reflection At Rock Harbor In Orleans On Cape Cod

reflectionmarkers

I loved this reflection of the channel markers at Rock Harbor in Orleans on Cape Cod.  The channel markers, which are trees, are used to guide the boats in and out of Rock Harbor.

The water was like glass so you could really see their reflection. I thought it was so cool how the markers are refracted at such an angle as they hit the water.
