With all of the high winds and rain from the recents storms on Cape Cod the past few days, the waves are humungous!
I drove down to the beach and to get a few photographs. It was so windy that I had to hold on to the railing as I clicked away with my iPhone. I was too afraid to take my camera out with the wind and spraying salt water.
You can see how high the water is in this photograph of Nauset Light Beach…it is all the way up to the dunes and it isn’t even high tide yet.
There is nothing like being at the beach in a windy rainstorm!
The Paul Fulcher Memorial Bonfire at Nauset Beach in Orleans on Cape Cod last Saturday was an amazing event!
The bonfire was part of Orleans Pond Coalition’s “Celebrate our Waters” annual event. This entire event was held on Friday through Sunday. It was unbelievable! There were events for everyone… from museum tours to hikes to bird watching to sailing to paddle boarding or kayaking and boat tours of the harbor and much more. These events were all day and free!
We went down to Nauset Beach about 5:00 on Saturday evening and had a picnic on the beach while we listened to the Lower Cape Concert Band.
Over 3,000 people came to the bonfire which was lit just after dusk. It was so much fun and people were having a blast!
If you didn’t make it this year, put it on your calendar for next year and don’t miss Orlean’s “Celebrate our Waters.” It’s a great weekend event!
