Lots Of Erosion At First Encounter Beach On Cape Cod Bay.

We’ve noticed a lot of trucks bringing truckloads of huge boulders to First Encounter Beach in the past few weeks, so we thought we’d go investigate. They must be getting ready for the winter storms and the high tides. (Click on blog link for other photo.)

You can see in the first photograph where the dunes are being washed away and where the rocks are being placed to help delay the erosion. What an effort!

The 2nd photograph shows a few of the houses and just how close they are to the edge of the dunes. I sure hope those boulders hold up to Mother Nature. You look at those houses and think… What an incredible view!

No Kite Surfing Today At First Encounter Beach On Cape Cod.

It was a gorgeous, windy day so we thought we’d go back to First Encounter Beach and watch the kite surfers while we ate our picnic lunch in the car.  Wrong!

How funny! We had forgotten that the tide had changed just enough in those few days that it was dead low at lunchtime. So we sat and watched the people walking out on the flats… and then we took a walk too.

If you enlarge this photo, you can see the little specks of people walking way, way out there on the flats. Pretty cool!

Awesome Kite Surfing At First Encounter Beach On Cape Cod!

Yesterday was the first sunny day in a while so we packed a picnic lunch to have in the car and decided to drive  to First Encounter Beach as we thought it might be really pretty there. Were we in for a treat! (Click on blog link for more photos.)

As we drove in, we could see the colorful kites way up in the sky. It was really windy and the kite surfers were all out on the water. It was beautiful to watch them surfing back and forth along the beach with their multi-colored kites. Look at that surfer above  jump high off a wave! Wow!

The photo above reminds me of one of those hot air balloon festivals!

So cool, don’t you think?
