I was so surprised when I went to Nauset Beach the other day at low tide and saw how high the water comes up at high tide. You can see in the photographs that the water is almost up to the dunes. And with the area roped off for shorebird nesting, there isn’t much room at all for beach-goers when the tide comes in. (Click on blog link for other photo.)
It will be interesting to see how it all plays out this summer, especially with Nauset Light Beach having very limited parking because of delays in building their new restrooms. I’m sure Nauset Beach will get a good increase of beach-lovers!
It was last year when they installed the dune fences at Nauset Beach to help curb the erosion that has has been creeping up in the past few years and that took Liam’s away in 2018. (Click on blog link for comparing photo.)
You can see the difference in the two photographs in just a year. (The 2nd photograph is last year.) The planted beach grass has definitely started to grow in and will hopefully help with the beach erosion, saving the beach and parking lot for another few years.
It was a cloudy, chilly day on Nauset Beach, but beautiful just the same. Nauset Beach is one of those iconic beaches on Cape Cod that everyone remembers going to and loving the memories!
This was such a pretty view of the blue waters of Nauset Marsh at high tide leading out to Nauset Harbor and the ocean, and the windblown beach grass. I loved the dark blue color of the water contrasting with the sky. What do you think?
